January 30th, 2020

Hi W-BB
What’s a .dat file for? When I download things sometimes they include .dat files. I’ve tried to open them with wordpad or notepad to take a look but but it doesn’t work. Are they necessary W-BB?
Thanks beforehand!

Answer #1
(Windows XP) Right click the file choose ‘OPEN WITH’. You’ll get a caution prompt just click ‘OPEN WITH’ tab. Highlight the circle ‘Select program from list’ Click OK. Make sure the Box that says ‘Always use the selected program to open this kind of file’ is UNCHECKED. Choose ‘NOTEPAD’.
most times its not important.

nah basically mate when you are downloading a file from rapidshare ur browser saves it in temporary dat files and then once it has fully downloaded the dat file gets deleted as the downloaded file is created so basicall a dat file is temporary downloaded data just delete it if it doesn’t do it by itself
