[SOLVED] Sims 3 Data Loss

January 22nd, 2020

I’ve spent too much F*#@ing time on my person on this game for me to just start over.
I just go to play the game like normal, get to the load saved game screen and my file isn’t there. NOT THERE!!!!
I check the saved game directory, and there’s nothing there. What the hell has happened!!!
I don’t get it.
The only thing i can think of is the last time i played it the game crashed and i stopped when that happened. But it has crashed on me before with no data loss – accept of course the time between my last save point and the crash. But not the entire saved file.
PLEASE HELP ME!
UPDATE: There IS a saved game there, BUT it’s not mine. AND i cannot load it. It’s called Ramirez (not the name of my one) and when i click play nothing happens.. The saved file for that is called “Sunset Valley”…

Answer #1
IF you where using a mac, you could use time machine..
Answer #2
i am not using mac.
and system restore is no option.
Answer #3
come on guys! i really need help with this..
Is there anyway to manually find a saved game or something.
i’m out of ideas here
Answer #4
I don’t think there is a solution.. Sims 3 probably deleted the saved game, ’cause it was corrupt. The only possible thing to get your game back is restoring some sort of backup.
Answer #5
why would a game delete saved data?
and it keeps 2 backups. why would they all fail?
it just doesn’t add up.
Answer #6
it happens the same F***ing thing with me…AAAHH…i’m smiling!!!
Answer #7
it happens to me 2!! but i finally found the saved game file in my documents folder/ea games
just rename it into *.sims3 i think
before that the file name is something *.backup
then try run sims3.it works for me.
but every time i played the game it will crash
Fu%# !! ive spent 2 fu*&$ng hour suddenly it crashed.aaaah!!
Answer #8
Would it work if you used a Data recovery program and recovered the save data file you lost? I guess it’s a 50% 50% chance. Worth trying
Answer #9
HAPPENED TO ME TOO. well this is how mine happened. Was playing the game fine saved and stuff, and one day played the game and when trying to save the game crashed and for some reason i think since it was saving halfway it was corrupted and there was no more save file available. Had to redo the freaking thing again. Luky I could change ma lifestyle this time since I (20) was married to a 80 year old and trying to have kids.
Answer #10
ty a lot! Renaming really works =D
Answer #11
Yeah let me put an official SOLVED on this one fellas.
What I did – and it was to be overly safe – was copy the two files you get with each save.
In my case it was:
Sunset Valley.sims3.backup
Sunset Valley.sims3.bad – that file name *might* be Sunset Valley.bad
Anyway I just renamed those respective files too
Sunset Valleya.sims3
Sunset Valleya.bad
And it worked. I’m adding solved tags to this thread but if you have any more questions i’d be happy to help. Consider myself a bit of a Sims3 saved game guru after this

You got a woman who’s ALREADY married pregnant and asked her to tell her husband to let her move in with u! it’s like you’re telling the husband “in your face”!
And on which OS are you using the game? which version (Razors or Reloaded)?
Answer #17
oh thats what you mean, lol
i’m running Vista Home Premium 32-bit and installed Razor’s version
Answer #18
When you say ‘crash’, what do you actually mean?
Does it freeze?
Or Close completely?
What’s happening.

No wonder you have problems. Get Win 7 and it’ll work like magic.

when i try to save it, it takes actually too long to save and then it just exits without a pop-up saying crash or whatever

Yes the RC version will expire on March 1st 2010. But, I’m sure there will be an official release before the RC expires. And when that happens, you’ll just uninstall RC and install the official. Of course by getting it on .org
So it’s not a threat to get it right now to avoid the Vista’s lameness.

Thanks for the workaround!!
Answer #23
Thanks for the workaround!!
no worries.
as for you’re issue it could be a RAM issue. i’ve noticed sim3 really eats that stuff up.
Answer #24
i have 4 gigs of ram but i only can use 3,25GB of it
but yeah prolly, you could be right
edit: you’re right i put the setting a bit lower and its fine now, perfect kudos to you
