[SOLVED] Getting new PC – choosing between XP and Vista.

August 4th, 2016

I know there are already threads about XP vs. Vista, but my issue is a ted bit different from the others.
As I am getting me a new PC:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology ***Overclockable XXX***
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS M3N72-D NF750a HYBRID SLI Chipset DDR2/1066 SATA PCI-Express MBoard w/GbLAN,USB2.0,&7.1Audio
MEMORY: (Req.DDR2 MainBoard)4GB (2x2GB) PC8500 DDR2/1066Mhz Dual Chan Memory
VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 896MB 16X PCI Express
Which should play all the latest games without breaking a sweat, I am deciding if I should get Vista or stick with XP Pro. Now I am looking at it from a Gaming side of view. On the one hand we have DirectX 10 available with Vista (thinking about it, I hope this GFX Card supports DirectX 10, otherwise I am barking up a wrong tree…). On the other hand, I heard in the past that Vista has some issues running a lot of software and some games (not sure if its the old ones or any games.)
Could someone please tell me which is better for Gamers?
Thank you

In my opinion you should stay with xp and wait for windows 7 to go officially out and then switch to it

You can get drivers for Windows 7 for that card

I as well suggest you stick with XP till windows 7 is out. xp is currently still the best for most games that don’t need directX10, but that might change with windows 7 & directX11(if I read correctly on those articles at least)
