[SOLVED] ESET smart security 4 firewall question

August 4th, 2016

I just installed ESET Smart Security 4 and it seems to be working. I used the eicar test file for the AV and it fired up. Now about the firewall. Ive known for a long time that ESET’s firewall blocked but strangely enough it didnt this time :s so i was wondering if it is really working. Another thing is: how do i add exceptions for programs like uTorrent and others? I tried disabling the firewall but Utorrent port check still says it is blocked. The port is forwarded as the router forwards the ports automatically when uTorrent starts and stops the forwarding when i close it
ty in advance

All is in the advanced configuration. Just add whatever is needed both programs and sites to exclusion list. As far as I know in business edition u can also play some with the ports but i didnt need it so i dunno. U must search through configuration options. Btw I like eset cose it works quietly and with low pressure on system but soemtimes when the sonofa**** blocks and automaticaly deletes my stuff like Lineage 2 private server files without even asking i’m thinking on switching to norton or kaspersky.

go to the Setup, by presseing F5, then in the Personal Firewall menue go to Application modification detection. there you can add excluded programs etc.. Good Luck
Answer #3
You might need to go to Advanced setup and then click on Personal Firewall and change the filtering to Interactive Mode…
It will then ask you each time if you want to allow a connection and then it can learn it and add it to the list that you will see under Rules and Zones setup editor…(like Zone Alarm etc work)
This applies to ESS version 3 anyhow..
…and yes, they appear to have updated the part where you had to put in to allow connection to …It ain’t there anymore!
