It is refurbished and the Hard Drive has been wiped. I installed XP Pro/SP3 and went to the Toshiba site to get the drivers. I was shocked to find they only had drivers for Vista and Win 7. Does anybody know where to get drivers for it? I can’t get online, I have no sound, and my screen is stretched looking.
Can someone please help?.
they are there…the drivers for example the sound is compatible for all windows versions..
did you try windows update also??
as you can see is elected windows XP fro OS and those came up…as far as your display driver..googling im sure will help you find it
also i tihnk i read somewhere this computer came with vista shipped..so thats why you wont find XP drivers…why not just use win7?
none of those drivers will do what he needs
go to device mgr to see what’s missing
put
devmgmt.msc
into the run box
then grab “everest ultimate” in aps section
look under “windows devices” in “everest ultimate” in the “physical devices” try to determine name and model for missing device drivers
google that stuff or post it back here
you sound is Realtek Audio
go here (this one might work for audio)
http://www.realtek.com.tw/DOWNLOADS/
and click on “High Definition Audio Codecs (Software)” and get the XP driver
your video is either “intel” or “AMD(ATI)”
need a model
You might as well install Win7. It has XP’s functionality + Vista’s GUI.
1. Thanks for trying to help!
2. Notice the name? He is a she. LOL!
3. I can’t use Windows update because I can’t connect to the internet.
4. When I go to device drivers, under Other Devices, there are yellow question marks next to everything thing there which is:
Audio Device on HighDefinition Audio Bus
Audio Device on HighDefinition Audio Bus
Base System Device
Base System Device
Ethernet Controller
Unknown Device
Video Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatable)
6. This is someone elses computer so I can’t download anything. However, I have Everest on a Flash drive and when I went to Physical Devices it shows:

You’d be doing your friend a great service if you just installed a copy of Win7.
It will install most (if not all) drivers automatically. I’ve put it on 6 different computers and haven’t had any drivers missing thus far.
If you need a walkthrough or help finding which version is best to download, shoot me a PM.
The problem is on my computer. I am using the friends laptop to post here which is why I can’t download.
On the Toshiba site it says (if I read it correctly) that it has a 64 bit processor. I don’t even know if I read the right thing or if it is correct or what it means. Also, everything I’ve read on the web while waiting for another response says the Win 7 with XP functionality is not compatible with this computer.
Win 7 with XP functionality
is not referring to that
he’s saying that 7 functions at least as well as XP but looks prettier with your hardware I’d say give it a try
and if toshiba lists all the drivers for 64bit 7 that might be your best choice, as you have 4gig of memory
after install you might find no missing necessary drivers, but install the display driver from toshiba anyway
that it has a 64 bit processor.
either version will run on it, 32 or 64
Thank you so much for your help. I spent three hours on Google and found someone that had put together the drivers I needed for his own computer. He got this same computer and wanted XP, so he got all the drivers together.
