Software to increase microphone loudness?

January 31st, 2020

Hey,
I’m looking for some microphone boosting software, my mic is at max loudness but no one can hear me unless I put the mic really close…
Anyone know of any?
Thanks in advance

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed it, But windows itself already has this feature!
It’s in volume controls, Click on the advanced button under microphone
and tick the microphone +20db boost box. Other than that, Do keep in mind that
not all Audio/IM apps rely strictly on the windows volume settings, A lot of em have their own
volume control settings, So you should also look into that as well. If nothing helps, Then I’d say your mic’s sensitivity is just too poor and you’d have to get a new one!
Personally, I have a logitech webcam (With an integrated mic of course) and it’s sensitivity is just excellent (I can be heard very clearly from pretty much anywhere in the room)

I don’t have any boost option :/

Answer #3
You probably do, I just forgot to mention one very important detail!
On the menus, You have to go to options>advanced controls
Once this is checked, You’d see that advanced button…
Edit: I was talking about windows volume controls, Type sndvol32 into the start menu’s search box, If that doesn’t work, Then try sndvol or sndvol64.

That’s for the audio, I don’t want to change my sound volumes I want to change my mic to be even louder…
Answer #5
It’s for the mic too (As I’ve already pointed out!)
If you don’t see it listed, Go to options>properties and tick the microphone box.
Answer #6
What brand of sound to you have?
You might be able to install a drivers package for it, that gives you a sound control (audio management) pa that provides more options..

Ermm its just some hd onboard, I installed the AC97 drivers but they only affect my headset microphone I want to boost my webcam microphone the same sort of way that ventrillo is able to boost it.

Really, Are you sure about that? I could’ve sworn I’ve provided you that, But I don’t know, Maybe it was just my imagination! Seriously dude, You are being ridicules, If you want help, Then listen to the advice given to you, But if you couldn’t care less about other people’s input – Then simply don’t bother asking as you’d be wasting their time (And yours too!) for no good reason.

Something which doesn’t exist, I am unable to achieve what you said.
Answer #11
It does exist! As I’ve previously pointed out, In order to see the microphone listed on windows volume controls (sndvol^), You have
to go to options>properties (on the menus) and tick the microphone box, And in order for the advanced button to appear underneath it, You need to click on options?>advanced controls. After you click on the advanced button, You should see a box called “microphone +20db boost”. But this can only affect a mic that is directly connected to your sound card (Will have no impact on a webcam mic)
Set that aside, Have you tried fiddling with the volume controls of the IM app itself? And in the future, If an advice given to you isn’t working (Or you’re unsure how to make it work) it’d
help if you’ll actually say so! (This is exactly why I was so upset before, You made it appear like you simply don’t value my help!)

Checkout the album of images @ http://minus.com/mbd4MAcnrRkjrE
I can’t find it see what I mean?
Answer #13
Yeah, I see your point, It seems this settings is located elsewhere on Win7 than it is on XP, I wasn’t
aware of that as I never really used this function on Win7 before. My bad. Back to business, Go to the Recording tab, Right click the mic and click on Properties
Then go to the Levels tab and look down, You should see Microphone Boost in there!
Answer #14
@
He already did that at the very beginning.
I don’t have any mic except that default one that is showing under “Recording tab”.
But this is what is interesting.

When you change Boost those “Blue lines” at the right side will fill with a Green color.
And when you compare that with his picture it seems he already did that.
And that question was good but OP didn’t answer on it:
“Have you tried fiddling with the volume controls of the IM app itself? ”

Cheers
Answer #15
Snip...
Well yeah, I tried changing the settings in the “IM App” (It’s actually for Steam, F1 2012, 2013 (when released)…etc)
They all struggle to hear me, I have to use my headset mic at the moment otherwise I have to have the cam right next to me (really close)
Answer #16
I’d say it’s pretty obvious at this point that your webcam’s mic has packed it in!
Better just buy a new one (And preferably a Logitech)
Poor sensitivity cannot be fixed by software means.

Good find.
You certainly got an eye for details!
