Slow Computer
August 4th, 2016
The thing is though, I have a Q6600, 8 gig of ram etc. And it still acts sluggishly. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I did just buy more ram and a new hard-drive, so maybe it could be one of them? Memtest seems to run ok, not showing any errors with my ram, but Hard Drive Inspector is saying that my hard drive is running at 71^o C and the reliability, performance and error resistance are all at 51% (good).
Should a new hard drive be better than that? Surely it should be at 100?
Can anyone think of anything that may help.
EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention that I am on XP 64 bit
51 is weird for a new HDD
try a different HDD and see if it helps

The weird thing is it seems to be ok now. I got over 400 files a second in bit defender…instead of 30. It’s really weird.
Anyone see anything weird in the hijack this?
I will try a new HDD later, anything so that I dont have to install a newOP, I’ve done that too many times lately lol.
The hiijack this log seems fine… in fact a surprisingly small amount of proccesses running
Can you download and install Everest:
http://www.google.com?t=1681537&highlight=
This should give you an accurate temperature reading of your hardware and can you post the temperatures of your core hardware (gpu, cpu etc) when your PC is running fine and when it is not
Also.. when the PC underperforms, how long was the computer on for?
71C is way too high temp for a HD,55C is the max temp
for desktop HDs but your HD might have a bad sensor or the program you used didnt read it right, check with everest ultimate
and also open the case and touch it to determine if its really that hot,if it is then backup your stuff and have it replaced a.s.a.p , if overheating is not the issue then check
the DMA settings,see this thread

The HDD definetly doesnt feel that warm. I can touch it and it is mildly warm.
EDIT: It turns out the program was showing me the resultin fahrenheit. I know you must be thinking I am an idiot lol, but it just said 72 degree’s. How was I to know?
When it just starts up it runs really badly. I know its doing a lot of stuff, but not 20 – 30 minutes in surely.

maybe too much background processes on that server. Try disabling some stuff on startup from msconfig
