Shader model?

August 5th, 2016

Greetings, I’ve got a question.
I currently have Sapphire ATi Radeon HD3850 256GDDR3, and all specifications of that card say that it supports Shaders model 4.1, but when I tried to install Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts it reports detected shader model 3.0
Is that a glitch or limitation in the game installer’s detection or is my card really on 3.0 shader?
Is there any application that would give me proper information on my graphics card? Something like CPU-Z but instead of VGA?
Thanks.

Try running this test:
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
Select the game you’re trying to run and it will test all requirements (including shader) on your computer

Do you have Windows XP? Because XP doesn’t support DX10 no Shader 4(.1)
Answer #3
I have Windows XP, so if I used Vista, would it report 4.1 like the gfx card’s supposed to have? That java test still reports 3.0 only. I didn’t want to ask if I can run the game, but whether the shader model on the card is reported inaccurately. You Have: ATI Radeon HD 3850 (ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x9505))
Video RAM: Required - 64 MB , You have - 256.0 MB
Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 1.1 , You have - 3.0
Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 1.1 , You have - 3.0
