Samsung Galaxy S3 Battery Questions – [SOLVED]

January 16th, 2024

Hi!
I have an SG3. My battery life is bad. Everything is like minimum. I was searching online and found out that i can buy an extended battery that is like a case and you put it via your USB plug on the phone. and there is one just a battery with bigger mAh. Like theres one with 3100 mAh or 7200 mAh.
But i dont know which one to take. And is it a good idea to buy it? When i ask a samsung representative, he did not even mention those alternative. He just said to like run my phone on safe mode and what not. I cannot go through a full day with my phone without having to charge it somewhere at school. Im afraid of using my phone as a music device because i dont want it to ruin my battery life..
Help? anyone??
Thanks!
Much appreciated

the 7200 mAh will give you more than twice the run time of the 3100 mAh. and yes, it’s safe to do it this way.

Many options available, the third party ones are not supported by Samsung. 1. Enlarged battery (and hence bigger cover).
2. Portable charger.
3. Rom flashing/tweaks.
The most draining sources are brightness, animated wallpapers, touch tones, sensors, wifi, gps, 3 or 4G. Lithium Ion batteries are good for 2 years depending on heat and how often its discharged (of course your mobile will have lots of heat from your hands and wifi/3g signals and heavy loads). A rom flash will increase your battery life to an extent as its the cheapest option available. When it gets unbearable, get a larger battery or portable charger, portable chargers can be recycled for your next mobile.
My N7100 has good battery life as its battery is huge, I just did some rom flashing and its battery life is much better, gives me longer wifi and 3g time. But you should aim for stock kernels as they are much stable.
A rom flash is likely to void warranties (as you will be using a custom one anyway), but you have Triangle Away to solve that. The best battery life is extended with a enlarged battery + rom flashing.
Its fairly easy and is do-able in 30 minutes. The start is to flash in a recovery and it often needs root access before hand.
There is Exynosabuse which makes rooting way easier (Nice Samsung Exynos vulnerability). I use TWRP recovery as it supports touch access, the traditional CWM recovery needs to be controlled via volume buttons which is very awkward.
Make a backup of everything before you do anything, especially the IEMI and other unique data embedded in the device.

Try turning off wi-fi and GPS when you are not using it. I have a standard battery in my S3 LTE and it lasts a full 24 hours, making a LOT of calls.
edit
you can always get one of these

I’ve got a 10,000 mAh Power bank or whatever they are called, it comes with lots of different connectors and will charge almost any portable item, including iPad, similar to this, but it’s not Verbatim (and was a lot cheaper)
