[Resolved] Problem Reading DVD’s with my PS3!

August 1st, 2016

Hi, well All my PS3 games work, however DVD’s don’t work. I just insert the disc and the PS3 accepts it and clearly says that it’s a dvd-r disc but then it stays on a black screen? It was working fine a couple of days ago?? What has happened. Have I changed the settings by accident? Someone please help.
Thanks.

There is only three things I can think of to do if you are desperate to get it reading DVDs again.
1. Run one of those DVD laser eye cleaning discs though it to clean away dust from the laser eye.
2. Void the warrenty, pop open the PS3 and open it up to clean the laser eye by hand with Alcohol and a que-tip. (Plus use canned air to clean the innards.)
3. Send the b@$t@rd back to Sony to have them fix it.
The choice is yours.

I don’t think i have a warranty. Can I still send it to them?

It must be under warrenty for them to fix it free, it may cost you. Your best bet would be to call the technical support number thats in your manual that came with the PS3 and find out.

Lol after 4 months, it turned out that all I needed to do was format the whole PS3. Of course I put all the saved files on a USB and now DVD’s work!! I’m so happy!!
