Recording TV Shows from DVR

Is there any way to transfer a TV show from DVR directly without playing the video and streaming it to my tuner card? Help appreciated.

What kind of DVR? If its from the cable / satellite company – nope – the video is encrypted to your specific DVR.

That would be wonderfuls, I always want to do that. But I think the cable companie blocks it somehow

Depends what make it is. I have one (Topfield, pretty naff though) that I can just transfer the files via USB 2.0 to my pc, however, I still have to encode them to get a decent filesize.
