Is this a good video card?

Good enough for you to do what? Run word? Run Photoshop? Run dvds on your LCD flat screen monitor? Play crysis on high?

yes for those things you mentioned but i don’t want to play crysis on high, medium is good enough.

Should run on medium without errors providing its either on XP or non-DX10. I found that DX10 can massively reduce framerates…

The 8600 isn’t a good card for gaming, I’d suggest to buy a 8800GT or someting. Best value for money. You can compare cards on TomsHardware:
