Question about movie qualities

August 9th, 2013

Hi!
I like HD movies.Mostly I download 1080p movie rips in small size.Movie qualities are quite good, but my question is this:
If I download 4GB 1080p movie rip,is the quality the same as 10GB 1080p,or is the 10GB little better?
Thanks.

Answer #1
The 1080p 10GB rip is obviously better. Bigger the size of an HD movie rip, higher is the quality.
Answer #2
screen size matters as well
4GB – on a 40″ screen you may not see what might show on a 60″
Answer #3
The encoded resolution could of been altered with either release, especially the 4GB version. That means the horizontal resolution could of been lowered and it is resized on playback to 1920 horizontal pixels. For an example for HDTV, BBC HD/BBC One HD uses 1440x1080i but on playback it is resized to 1920×1080 which means a lower bitrate and file size can be used without sacrificing quality too much, although sharpness is worse. A similar approach can be used with Movies. Although a Movie could be 1920×800, it could be encoded to 1440×800 and a lower bitrate/file size. The quality/sharpness wouldn’t be as good as 1920×800 but any artifacts would be kept to a minimum.
