PS2 NTSC TO PAL

January 27th, 2020

How can i check whether a ISO is NTSC or PAL?
I have PAL PS2 and i have got a converter which changes the iso’s something from NTSC or PAL?
Will it really work, the NTSC to PAL conversion?

Answer #1
To check the image file. mount it with Daemon tools.
Or my fast way, use a program such as Ultra Iso, open the image fine and find something like “SLES 53549”.
There are other forms SLUS xxxxx and SLJS xxxxx.
It should be obvious that SLES is PAL and SLUS is NTSC/U. and SLJS is NTSC/J.
This I figured without looking at any threads and is only possible with Sony titles.
Wii and Xbox, its almost impossible to detect without a program.
Depending on what type of backup running you use, you could or can’t.
Personally I don’t use a patcher, If I had a way of force video region I would use it if the game is black and white.
Answer #2
Open the .iso file with WinRar, navigate to system.cnf, open it with Notepad…see if it’s SLES (PAL), SLUS (NTSC/U), or SLJS (NTSC/J).
That’s the quickest/easiest way to find out if it’s PAL or NTSC, and you don’t need any additional software.
Answer #3
If I remember correctly you don’t even need to open the system.cnf
Its right in the root directory.

I’m nearly 100% sure that a PS2 is NOT region free.
If it was, why would games be region coded?
