Pricing/Help upgrading my computer Hardware please!

January 23rd, 2020

First off, I’d like to say I’m a software guru. I have my computer running as effciently as possible with a motherboard that is around seven years old (asus A7V600 and an AMD AthlonXP 2100+ 1250+ mHz.
768 mhz of old RAM, and an ATI Radeon 9500 / x1050 graphics card
My computer starts up in about 15 seconds running XP sp3 home edition, running some programs from 2009, such as norton internet security, tuneup utilities 2009, games such as Supreme commander. Yet I’d say it’s about time to upgrade my hardware because I don’t think I can push my system for anytime longer unless I either overclocked, or bought new hardware!
Yet I’m a complete idiot when it comes to the hardware portion of my computer So I was wondering exactly *what* I would need to upgrade.
I would just go out and get a motherboard for X-MAS, but I heard that if I change my motherboard, I also have to buy a new power supply, ram, video card, and possibly other things. Making a small purchase into a much larger one.
I was wondering if this was true, and if so how much of it is true. And I really really really can’t afford a whole new computer… so please don’t suggest that one! Trust me, it would be a useless post on any of your parts to suggest it. Thank you!

well with specs like that i assume its an old AGP motherboard. So yes its true your pc needs a whole new do over to keep up in the race. Although the cpu isnt that strong maybe you can get a slightly better one or OC yours. For a vid card, you can change it to maybe a HD 3850 for $125 at Newegg. You can add more DDR-400 ram up to 3.2GB’s to be exact. So a little changes = a better pc
