Why dont you like winamp bro? IMO its about the best there is. No messing around, no loading or lag, the best visualisations ive seen and the best largest range of skins (if you can be arsed with them). Switching from WMP to Winamp, is like going from a British ford (unreliable and choppy, and im British lol), to a Japanese Nissan or Honda/Rover or something (solid, reliable, easier to maintain).
VLC is good as well, like Denzel Washington said, best player I know of for movies. iTunes is whack, for me anyway (for use of a more friendly word), why is it so huge in size, its bloatware. The sly buggers at Apple will do anything to force their software on you. When I had an Ipod, I didnt know Itunes was a prerequisite FFS, and that it would keep f*cking up my playlists, then my Ipod packed in completely after about a month, Apple can ‘do one’.
I’d just stick with winamp, unless you have a good excuse LOL!

people, Itunes and winamp are pretty heavy programs, all he wants to do is just some previewing of a song or a quick play, and media player classic the best solution for this.
Answer #6
I tunes works fine with my rigs.
you either have to know what your doing if your messing with how it runs or the settings, other than that its pretty simple for the average PC users

I agree with Itunes part. I hate nearly anything from Apple. But Winamp is not heavy. I am running Winamp as I speak, it just uses about 10megs of ram and the space it takes is about 8megs on the disk, it barely effects cpu.
Anyway MPC and VLC could be other alternatives.
Answer #8
iTunes ?
Answer #9
I tunes wouldnt be so heavy if it didnt run so many unrequired services and browser plugins and other asociated crap , as a standalone player its pretty good at organizing the library , but as i have to spend 5 minutes disabling services … updaters … removing other programmes they think i need , I choose media monkey as it keeps it simple but is an effective product.

total video converter has a very good and light player it plays all kind of files!
Answer #11
vlc for movies & checking stuff out, foobar for all the other audio, nothing can beat it.
Answer #12
I would have said foobar but as your already using it I only see VLC as a possible option. Foobar sounds like what you need, something simple and ‘lightweight’
Answer #13
zoom player or bs player :3
Answer #14
Winamp is not heavy at all… =O… Try Winamp or JetAudio…
