PC ony shows back screen on start-up. [SOLVED]

July 25th, 2016

I was trying to format my pc, and as I was having some troubes during the proccess, I tried to pay around with the bios settings. The last thing I did before the problem is with the bios profiles.
I chose a profie name called ‘FORMAT’ and rebooted, after that nothing shows up when I turn the pc on.
Also, I tried to remove the cmos battery and turn it on, so I’d restore the bios settings.
Could it be possible that the BIOS got deleted?

Answer #1
No, The BIOS was not deleted. And FYI, Removing the battery while the power cord
is plugged in is useless! Remove the power cord first, Then remove it, Leave it out for at least 10 mins.
Answer #2
I managed to get it back, thank you
now back to the first problem that caused this.. I can’t get the pc to boot from the usb :/ I’ve everything as it should be, cause this is not the first time i’m doing this, but It doesnt boot from the usb. the bios recognizes it, so I set it to the first boot device, but when the pc starts up, it boots from the HDD (even if it’s listed as secondary boot).
I remember having some warnings in windows xp, about the usb ports, but never had any problems using the mouse which has an usb cable.
Answer #3
Sounds very similar to when an Windows installation went bad and went to a command prompt screen every boot. I would just select the device to boot from when it begins, if it doesn’t boot from the USB then the Windows image may have not correctly been written. I’ve tried installation from USB once and it didn’t work out. The whole thing was time consuming.
Answer #4
I formated another computer with the same USB and the same files, also, I tried another usb which had windows xp in it, from which i formated another computer too, doesn’t work .. :/
Answer #5
If the other attempts were successful then it could be that the motherboard/BIOS doesn’t support booting from USB. I thought that might have been the problem when I tried it since my motherboard is stock.
Answer #6
Provide the motherboard model.
Answer #7
I’ve done this before on the same computer. I’ve managed to make it boot from the USB by delaying the start up proccess somehow, and now it’s working.. Let me see where this goes..
Motherboard name: aBit AL8-V
Answer #8
Done, I managed to finish the formating.
Thank you guys! thanks a lot!
