Overclocking Help

August 7th, 2016

I’m trying to get my Intel Pentium 4 520 Prescott to get to 4GHZ
Here is my BIOS page to give you an idea of where I stand:

I’ve tried everything to get to 253 CPU frequency and higher but I can’t mange to.
I’ve tried loosening RAM timings
I’ve tried upping the vcore
I’ve tried upping the RAM voltage
Nothing works.
And I can’t seem to change my memory divider. I don’t think my motherboard can do it.
Anyone help?

Answer #1
Memory divider is sometimes under RAM speed, just drop that by a notch. Eg. DDR 400 is 200Mhz, drop it to DDR 333 or 166Mhz. The way I overclock is pure memory divider with no voltage or timings mod.
Remember your CPU cooler plays an important role, if you don’t manage the cooling properly, you can consider that its a failed overclock.
Answer #2
Ah there’s just so much to think about when trying this sort of stuff.
Answer #3
Again if the default ram is 200Mhz in CPU-Z, you better drop the memory divider and crank the BUS heavily to make your memory 200Mhz again.
If the cooling is sufficient after 4 hours of Prime 95 burn in, raise the voltage of the CPU and aim for a higher clockspeed.
Note: due to Prescotts having a history of being hot, the default cooler just won’t cut it.
Answer #4
The problem is I can’t change the memory divider.
Does the memory divider come in another name?
Answer #5
what model is your motherboard?
Answer #6
P5GD1 PRO ASUS
Answer #7
If you can’t change the memory divider you won’t have much headroom for overclocking, unless you change your RAM.
