Opinion on new system

August 4th, 2016

Anyone with better knowledge than me could tell me if the config is fine, if the system is good.
1 x SAMSUNG 840 series Evo (250 gb, sata/600, 540 mbps, 520 mbps) 1 x GIGA-BYTE GA-Z97-D3H 1 x NZXT Phantom 410 (white, no psu, atx) 1 x CORSAIR RM (650 watt, atx, sli ready, modular) 1 x SCYTHE Mugen 4 (s1366, sAM3, s1156, s1155, sFM1, s2011, s1150, sFM2) 1 x CRUCIAL Ballistix Sport (8192 mb, 1600 mhz, CL9, 1.5 v, non-ecc, unbuffered, kit of 2) 1 x INTEL Core i7 4790K (4c, 8t, 3.5 ghz, 8 mb, 88 watt, boxed) 1 x PALIT GeForce GTX 970 Jetstream (1304 mhz, 4096 mb, 7000 mhz, fan) 1 x SEAGATE Barracuda (1000 gb, sata/600, 7200 rpm, 64 mb, 3.5″)

Looks OK.
The Evo is a good SSD. I went the MSata SSD route ratherthan a full drive (it leaves a drive bay free)
Maybe 16G of ram to go with the “Beast” attitude of the whole thing
Palit are OK – check the HS/Fan arrangement; I prefer the old “windforce” design, twin fans, huge heat-sink.
How much – is the pertinent question: £1300 – £1500 sounds good, £2000+ = rip off.
Answer #2
Actually the price is less. around 1000-1100 pounds. This is non-assembled. To be honest I thought 16G of ram would be useless, thought 8 would be enough.
Don’t know what you mean but afaik the palit jetstream has twin fans. Image
Answer #3
I like it.
however; if you’re looking to overclock, don’t get that CPU. I have the same and the max I got was 4.4ghz with turbo off. Z97 G55 SLI board, that CPU is good but not good for overclocking!!!!

Re – GPU = that’s the one I meant.. GOOD cooling!
I suggested 16g because – yes, 8G is enough, but 16 give you some legroom to play about with ramdrives – some games benefit from it because they can load more textures into main memory before sending them to video memory. I usually say no more than 8G myself – but if cash allows it, that’s a lovely system, give it some freedom..
If you’re pushed for cash, don’t bother… if cash is less of an issue, the extra 8G is just, like i said, legroom.
£1100 for that is a good price – good find!.

Not an experienced overclocker then OT: The Jetstreams are good cards
Answer #6
i would replace the cpu heatsink with water cooling But if you want to maximize game performance, you should drop down to an i5 and take that money to get a GTX980
Also, 16gbs of ram would be suitable for your system, though it is not entirely necessary
Answer #7
hey, since ddr3 is not as expensive as ddr2, upgrading to 16gb will not be as expensive, but will worth the invest. in other words it worth to add few pounds in order to have more ram space.
at least check the price.

Make sure to get a good reliable power supply with that rig, i highly recommend Seasonic one 750+ watt should do the job.
