Open/Convert 3Dmax files

i am back again with some issue on filetypes and extensions
i have got a 3dmax file which i want to open in any other program other than 3dmax as it is a resourceful software.
Kindly guide me how to open these kinds of files in any light program or then convert it in any format like PDF for viewing it.

You need to open it in 3DS Max
and then export to a different format that`s the only way to do it.
You’ll need to open the file in 3D Max and save as another file type
