Answer #1
I would go with number 2 as it has the second gen processor with a newer socket it will last longer for upgrades and it has a far better CPU, DDR3 ram is dirt cheap right now so the amount of ram doesn’t matter.
Answer #2
I’d go for option 2 if I were you.
Answer #3
FOR GAMING, I’d go for option 1, since your CPU is more than enough for games and with a faster GPU than option 2. You’d have more FPS with option 1. For everything else, option 2 will be faster. I’d strongly recommend a custom build with everything tailored to your needs and budget.
Below is the Gaming CPU Hierarchy Chart. Please take note that this chart is targeted towards gaming performance and performance for other applications may vary! Try to buy a CPU as high in the chart as possible by your budget. Before you buy a new CPU, make sure that your Motherboard is compatible.

If the above chart is NOT showing then kindly use the link below

If you wish to buy a Graphics card then consult the chart below and try to buy a card as high in the chart as possible by your budget. Before you buy a new card, make sure that your case and power supply can accommodate it.

Also make sure your drivers are updated to the latest version.
AMD (ATi) Driver: http://sites.amd.com/US/GAME/DOWNLOADS/Pages/downloads.aspx
nVidia Driver: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
You can also try using softwares Like Game Booster.

I think he was asking for an opinion on the two choices he listed.
He would be getting an end of life product with choice number 1 no upgrades of processor possible.
He can very easily upgrade the GPU/video card if he finds that one inadequate.
If he were to go with choice number 1 he could never upgrade the cpu much further then what it is now as those aren’t available as a new stock item any more.
It’s an old socket, not compatible with second gen.
Anyway he was specifically asking about those two choices.
P.S. they will both run the latest games but neither will run the latest games on high settings, Alan Wake being one example, a 460 would run it on medium to low settings for acceptable frame rates..
Answer #5
What if i change the GPU of the second one and add the RAM. Would it be enough ?

That would be the perfect way to go!

ok, i will do so.
Thank you for your tips guys.
Answer #8
If he wishes to change CPU, GPU and RAM then why not get a custom build before hand?!
Answer #9
Buy the parts and assemble your own PC.
I5 2500K with a good gpu would probably be a better all round gaming rig working with the same kind of budget.
@Shah_Jahan do we really need those out of date images in every new build thread?
Answer #10
Yes i am choosing parts my self. But in Albania good parts and cheap one are hard to find. i think i will buy the AMD Radeon HD 6970.

Many people do find it useful. Since you are a regular here, you might have seen it too often and thus you complain. But those who are not frequent visitors often find the charts useful.
BTW, I ALWAYS update them and thus are NOT ‘out-of-date’. The list now includes HD 7970 and HD 7950 and thus is as new as it can get.
Kindly ignore the images if they bother you.
Thank you for understanding.

Yes people need to remember it’s not like being in London or here in the states where we have millions of choices.
Sometimes if you have limited sources for parts you may have to compromise a little.
I think in your situation you are going about doing it the way that’s best for you.
Answer #13
I’d go for option 2, but I would prefer it with a better GPU, which would obviously be important for gaming. (GO NVIDIA) – That’s a biased recommendation, though I always think that if you go Intel, you get nVidia, and if you go AMD, you go ATI. ‘Cos ATI is sheet (trololol) and it didn’t improve when AMD bought it.
I have a i7-2600k and I must say it is bloody amazing. 16gb ram is a bit OTT, I have a 8gb ripjaw x @ 1600MHz which runs my computer v fast. Rendering whilst on Sony Vegas is a charm.
@Shah – first time I’ve seen that table and that’s actually quite helpful. ATI stuff confuses me!

I have to agree on nvidia, the last ATI card I owned was in 2004 and I’ll NEVER use any AMD or ATI product, just my bias lol.

I’m sure it will be fine as I said I’m just Biased because I’ve used Nvidia for so long, The only REAL issue I’ve seen people have problems with the ATI cards is that they seem to have far more problems with drivers when new games come out.
I’ve noticed that people sometimes have to wait a week or so for ATI to release a new driver to fix the issue.
Nvidia seems to not have those issues, but if you get that card for a good price waiting a week now and then is no big deal.
Answer #17
If it is just a week then it wont be a problem.

Right on!
I hope you can come back to this thread when you get it all working and give us an update that would be interesting.

Answer #21
6Gb/s , SATA-3 and 5900rpm! What was Seagate thinking?!
With Blu-Ray writers getting ~$80, you could have opt for that.
Answer #22
Np. Harddisks are cheap to buy and blurays i dont use them( Also my laptop has Blu-Ray writer)
Answer #23
Just finished installing all parts but no Video Signal -.-‘.
Will send it tomorrow back to the shop and check it out.
Answer #24
might sound silly but did you change bios to use your pcie graphics card and not onboard video ?
Answer #25
No i havent changed anything. Today was the first time boot but suddenly no signal. Monitor is fine becuase i tried it with my old PC.
Answer #26
by default it would be set to display video from your onboard graphics , you can check it by connecting your monitor to your graphics port on your motherboard , you should get a signal then
Answer #27
I dont want to open it because it has the warranty stick.
Answer #28
i suggest you take it to a professional to get it done
Answer #29
Yes! Tomorrow will bring it back to the shop i bought it from.
Thanx for your help.
