Need Help With Photo Orginization

August 7th, 2016

I have been trying to organize my photo collection to my satisfaction, but now I have become exhausted and frustrated. Here is my situation:
I have around 40,000 photos covering 7 years at a size of about 100 GB. Thrown in with those is a handful of various video recordings. These photos and videos are spread between hundreds of unorganized folders and located on my external harddrive along with music, movies, documents, clip art, and old PC backups. What I would like to do is import all of my pictures and videos to my Windows 8 laptop’s photo and video folders order by date(e.g. 2013-04-2). It sounds simple, but sadly Windows 8’s built in media import and Windows Live Photo Gallery do not recognize external hard drives. I then downloaded Google Picasa to try and import the pictures but it would only let me import the entire drive (this would include movies, clipart, random document scans, and my music’s album art), or select single photos manually. Now I’m just exhausted and annoyed and want my pictures organized.
Any suggestions?

It looks good! Although I would prefer something free and their free trail is limited to 500 photos.

well i looked everywhere i could on my 3 dozen site bookmarks (not counting torrent sites) and couldn’t find it anywhere. Probably due to the fact that it’s not actively developped anymore. Honestly i’m using there movie collector software (legit), and it’s well worth the money. Collectorz.com (not to mods, this is intentional not a link. It’s a registered trademark like that) software works beautifully.

ummm, drag and drop from the external (ie copy)?
I have thousands of photo’s too, but luckily I started sorting them before they got out of hand. Whatever you decide to do, always keep at least one backup of photo’s.

Try XnView MP to see if that suits your needs.
