Need help with Java 6 Update 10 (JRE)

Well, I’ve installed this as I need Java to run a game that I play. However, in my processes list Java.exe is running at anywhere between 20 – 80% of my CPU. I used to hava Java 6 update 7 and Java.exe did not run in my processes list, but now that it does it causes the game to lag severely. Even with my PC’s specs, which are:
AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4800+ (2.51GHZ)
3 GB RAM
Does anyone know how I can stop java.exe running or help to stop it from lagging the game?

see if there’s a “java” service running and disable it
also check the startup tab in msconfig and un-check it there
you tried uninstalling and reinstalling ?

The game is made with Java, so it runs java.exe, but it never used to in Version 6 update 7. It’s stupid.
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it.

just installed it today myself
and it duz add a service and a start-up item, and I disabled both
duz it always use the CPU or only during the game ?

Just during the game, which is why it lags it. Java.exe doesn’t run unless you start the game.

is this an online game or can you disconnect from the ‘net and play it, if possible try it as a test
