need help picking some security programs

Im running winodws xp. And i just cant seem to figure out what spyware, adware, malware, and antivirus programs i should go with.. there are so many what are the best ones out there? All your inputs and oppinions greatly appreciated, thanks.

i would’nt recommend getting alot of adware/spyware/malware programs here are the apps i use:
antispyware: Adaware
antivirus: AVG free
both are free download and can be googled easily

I recommend getting Adaware and AVG Free, but adware and spyware is what you want to avoid, so it was only an attempt at a joke

These are some I would suggest having more than one utility never hurts.
