Need Advice Installing Windows 10 On Newer Drive’s Partition Without dual Boot

August 4th, 2016

heyal,
i really need advice on this situation so i can install windows 10.
have another question re: installing windows 10 …now if i’m putting windows 10 on a different drive and partition is there a way to make it use the already installed programs that windows 7 using? and how to do this without uninstalling windows 7 i don’t want a dual boot anymore and not sure how do get rid of windows 7 because since i’m not going to install windows 10 on same drive as windows 7 due to it being older drive …how would yal advise me on the process of doing this …i don’t want to disconnect the drive [as i’m thinking] it won’t be able to use the already installed programs …right? it will want to install itself to same old windows 7 drive …right?
ok was that confusing? lol
OHHHH,
Which Version of Windows 10 do yal recommend Pro or Enterprise? was wondering bcuz more features?

Well in this case, you would first need to clone the old drive to the new drive, then disconnect the old one and upgrade win7 to win10 on the new drive.

what clone software do u recommend? thanks hun appreciate ur advice!

Yes, if you clone it to the new drive with something like Acronis True Image, then you run Win7 from the new drive, and then you can do an upgrade install over it. Then you keep all your programs and settings. Otherwise, it would need to be clean install = lose everything

My advice: Do a dual boot, it will give you time to set up Windows 10 just the way you want it, instal the programs you want (latest versions), and you get the time you want to get used to it before you dump Windows 7 on your other HD. This way you will never have any conflict like you might do upgrading 7 to 10.
Use KMSpico (latest version) to activate it and Classic Shell for your start button if you want to boot into a normal desktop without all those app tiles all over the place.
Firstly though, decide how many partitions you want on your newer HD, set them up first then do the instal.
I currently have Windows 8.1 Enterprise and Windows 10 Pro on a dual boot both on the same HD and I still use both (although mostly Windows 10) due to anomalies between the two because of my old hardware.
