Monitor turning Black

October 30th, 2013

Hey all
I’ll be using my desktop fine and then some time into my use, the screen just flashes to black, while my computer keeps running. I know this because while I have my music playing and the screen goes black, the music does not pause/lag.
I’ve tried this on both VGA and DVI display settings but the error till occurs.
I have both drivers for my GPU and Monitor install, and this problem has just shown up recently.
I have also tried fiddling around with the RAM incase they got loose or something, but no luck.
My monitor is a HP w1907 if it helps.
Thanks in advance.

It could be a problem with the power running into the monitor, when it happens does the LED light on the monitor flicker or anything? Does the power to the monitor turn off (image blurry/out of focus for a second on reconnect)? or does it just flicker for a second?
It could be a bad connection somewhere. When you say VGA and DVI was that with both connectors on the monitor AND gpu? or using a DVI to VGA plug?
Have you tried the monitor on another computer? or tried running on another operating system?
Does the event manager mention anything? Win key + R > “eventvwr” > stuff in the middle within the past 24 hours.
Answer #2
The LED light does not flicker or anything.
I’m also using DVI or VGA for both the monitors and GPU, no transformer heads…
I havent gotten around to trying another OS or Computer to test the monitor, I’ll also have event manager a check.
Answer #3
OK so that’s two completely different cables plugged into two completely different ports?
Do you have onboard graphics? try plugging the VGA into that and seeing if it happens after a while.
