Might have gotten a set of bootleg dvds

August 4th, 2016

The information I’ve gotten with Nero Info Tool doesn’t match with info from the dvd box, mainly the discs are lacking copy protection and are set to region 0/all, when they should have protection and be set to region 1.
Additionally, the dvd was released in 2003 but when viewing the files in explorer, their creation date is in 2011.
What other information would I need to determine if a dvd is a bootleg, or would this information be enough to consider the dvd a bootleg? (I know, why buy when you can download? I like the series and wanted to own legits.)

Could be an imported disc or something, what color are the bottoms of the discs? And honestly, if that’s the only way you could possibly tell, it seems to be a good enough product for it not to matter?

They are all US releases, not a import. White, not purple, but if it’s in large enough quantities it’s easier for a bootlegger to press them (White bottom) instead of burn them (Purple bottom). This also makes the discs appear to be legitimate.
Anyway, I’d gotten this over Ebay with a lot of shipping hassles. I’d return for a full refund, but with as much hassle I had with getting the item, and it being fake, I’m expecting that the seller will try and ~ censored ~ me out of my refund by claiming I returned a empty item. He’s offered a partial refund with me keeping the item, but I’m hoping to get enough info together to force a larger refund. (I consider myself mostly honest, but if a person tries to ~ censored ~ me over then I’m sure as hell going to ~ censored ~ them over too)
Mostly I’m smiling about this because it was originally intended as a christmas gift for a friend. Because of the shipping issues I had to go with something else instead (But decided to keep these for myself since I liked the series), but finding out that it was a fake has smiling me off even more.

Also ran into bootleg dvds, anime boxsets, you can tell they are bootlegs because they have a contact e-mail address on the disc ending in hotmail. com and I also got them from Ebay

CSI Miami, season’s 1 through 8.
They are higher quality bootlegs. The only reason I checked these was because the seller had gotten a few feedbacks about bootleg dvd’s after I’d ordered them. They play fine, quality is good. Sounds a little… wierd, but good enough that the average person would attribute it to their headphones. Frankly, even though I know these are a bootleg, I’d still consider the sound issues to be because of my headphones, or sound card. The quality is just that good. It’s a fake, but at least it’s a good fake.
They get these from a distributor, and since the negatives started recently I’m assuming that its just a case of the holiday rush making it easier for bootleggers to pass off their product.
Edit – Seller offered me a 25$ refund. If they will stack this with a 20$ refund they offered for the slow shipping, then I’ll be happy with this. It’s a high quality bootleg, not one of the crappy buck a disc bootlegs, so I’d be fine with them with the refund.

Just download the episodes and use convertxtodvd it’s probably what they used.. Just consider yourself lucky.. I bought region 0 bootlegs before and I’ve had jittery video hard coded Chinese subtitles or the wrong language you name it.
