Looking for a good pc action game

I just recently got my first descent gaming pc and I am not familiar with what games are out there. The games I really enjoy are 3rd person action games like the Max Payne series. I have played through all of those and am looking for something new. I am not really a graphics hound. As long as I can run the game at full speed I’m happy. I only mentioned my old pcs because the fastest one I had up until now only had 1.5 gigs of ram, and wouldn’t even run a lot of casual games Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Closest games that are newish I can think of like max payne where Mass Effect 2/3 both very good and slightly different.. A couple years old so not the best of the best graphics but similar style of game you should enjoy.

Gears of War, it’s one of the best 3rd person pure action games, I think you will love it.

Mass effect is a great choice You might be able to run spec ops, the line, which has a great story
Fallout 3 and New Vegas might not be exactly what you are looking for, but are also great great games
Grand theft auto (up to san andreas or IV) is also an interesting choice
The witcher 2 is a good game, though i’ve never played it

I’m playing Prototype 1 nd 2 at the moment – highly recommend them.
Open world roaming, no penalties for not doing any “missions” (although you need to finish one if you start one). Fun having huge armoured claws coming out of your hands, Wolverine style, and eviscerating people!
Definitely have a look.
