Lenovo Thinkpad T540p Bios Password problem

July 29th, 2019

Hi pals,
I’m having a password issue with my laptop. I’ve a Lenovo Thinkpad T540p
UEFI BIOS Version is GMET65 (2.13)
There’re three different passwords here. 1) Supervisor Password, 2) PowerOnPassword and 3) Hard Drive Password.
I want to change the Boot priorities and current passwords but for that I need to know current passwords.
Do you guys have an idea what are the default BIOS passwords for Lenovo Thinkpad T540p? Or any idea how can I crack/restore it? I would like to ask for a software too but I have no access to Windows!
can somebody please help me?
Thanks

So, you mean “Removing/Replacing the BIOS Cell” this can work; thanks a lot.
Any other ideas?

It’s the only idea. Lenovo doesn’t have a password remover available as far as I know.
Other than calling their support line and paying a fee as forgotten passwords are not covered by warranty.
I guess if you have access to another exact model, you could copy the bios firmware and flash it on the existing laptop; however, even then you would have to modify the firmware for your serial number etc otherwise the flash would likely result in bricking.

From memory there is no crack. I have always used Lenovo/IBM Thinkpads, and years ago there was a hack but it required some hardware wiring to get it to work. Have a look at http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1689

. No idea if any of this works. Other option is to return to Lenovo and they will reset it at a cost.
Edit – a newer demo
