Hi guys i have a Hp Pavilion dv6, and its maybe like 2 weeks old. I did a update on it like right about now, and my computer went to restart, and all I’m getting now is a black screen with a white line flashing. I did a system restore, and tried to go into safe mode it didnt work. I really dont know what to do any suggestions?

Maybe the program Winternals can help. Maybe its not called Winternals anymore, i just read Microsoft bought it..back in 2006 lol.

If you have an external 2.5″ harddrive enclosure you could test the harddrive to see if it’s corrupt.
Here’s what I would try:
Using some other computer, download Parted Magic and burn to CD. It’s available at http://partedmagic.com/doku.php?id=downloads
Plug in the Live CD and use it to reformat the harddrive to NTFS or FAT32. If you’re not familiar with the functionality of GParted, I’m sure you can find some info online. If your recovery files are contained in a partition on the disc, make sure you either back them up first or just don’t touch that partition.
Finally, pop in a Windows disc (or whatever OS you want to use) and try to do a fresh install. If this doesn’t work, then either the harddrive or the computer itself may be defective…
