Ipod touch 2nd gen vs 3rd gen

August 2nd, 2016

I want to buy the 32 GB version of one of those version. Which one of them should I buy? I heard that the hack for the 3rd gen isn’t fulled yet (every time the device shut’s down the hack is gone), yet I heard that the 3rd version is slightly faster on tasking, and the hardware of it is better.
Is it worth buying the 3rd gen for the future (I assume some one would be able to disable this restore mode it has)? or should I buy the 2nd one which is already has a good hack, and it’ll be a little bit cheaper for me to buy?
Thanks

3rd Gen 32GB of course ( or 64GB even better )!

Becareful because even the very recently manufactured iPodTouch 2G can only be tethered jailbroken.
Its a tricky question to answer because Apple has recently changed strategies, where firmware upgrade or restore is server side controlled. Meaning that the brand new 3GS, iPT2G, iPT3G you buy after Apple fixes the iBoot exploits will be unable to be downgraded to vulnerable versions (i.e. they will need a new exploit).
Its a shame because the iPod Touch 3G and iPhone 3GS has some nice upgrades such as OpenGL ES 2.0 allowing you to play better looking games etc. However these iDevices are a pain to hack.

I bought my iPod Touch 3G (64GB) even after I knew that it culd not be jailbroken as easily as the 2nd gen models and the MAIN reason being that the processor is quicker and as states above, the OpenGL in terms of video. I placed my 3rd gen model right beside my sisters’ 2nd gen 16gb model and ran Google maps and my model was several seconds quicker loading.
If I were you, get a 3rd gen model and just wait like the rest of us 3rd gen owners until an untethered jailbreak comes along, it might not be today but I’m sure there will be one soon… *hint hint hackers out there*

, so from now on, if I want to downgrade I won’t be able to? didn’t quite understand the risk tough…
From what I read on the web, if you hack your iPod 3rd gen and shut down the device, it restores the previous ‘settings’ and the device is not hacked anymore.
What else should I need to know? and are the things I wrote are true??
