IPhone iOS 5 Update Error

December 17th, 2013

Hi, I want to get the new iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 but iTunes keeps getting the 3014 Error, or it saying my iPhone isn’t eligible…
I tried the whole host file thing, I have:
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
on my host file, should they be there or shall I remove them or what?
anyone know?
I didnt have the last one on there first of all, so put that, and restarted etc,
i’ve updated iTunes and so on but not luck still.

Answer #1
since theres a # in front of them, they should be cancelled out.
Make sure you are running the latest version of itunes, 10.5.
Click Help at the top> Check for updates.
Answer #2
Delete anything that ends in *.apple.com in your hosts file.
When you’re doing the restore, shift + click restore then select the .ipsw.
If you have Tiny Umbrella installed, make sure it doesn’t reconfigure your hosts file.
Answer #3
Just remove all apple lines in hosts file and also remove tinyumbrella.hosts if you have saved.. Then reboot and try to restore again!
Cheers!
