Ipad 2 illegal to jailbreak?

January 25th, 2020

Hi, I have a iPad 2 and it was jail broken on ios5. Anyway, right now they are saying its not permitted to jailbreak the iPad. Well, does that go for ios6 only since they stated it, or having an older firmware would be the same thing? Thanks. Should I continue downloading stuff off installous is it safe?

iOS jailbreaking is the process of removing the limitations on Apple devices running the iOS operating system through the use of software and hardware exploits such devices include the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and second generation Apple TV. Jailbreaking permits root access to the iOS operating system, allowing the download of additional applications, extensions, and themes that are unavailable through the official Apple App Store. Jailbreaking is a form of privilege escalation, and the term has been applied on other computer systems as well. The name refers to breaking the device out of its “jail”,[1] which is a technical term used in Unix-style systems, for example in the term “FreeBSD jail”. A jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS can still use the App Store, iTunes, and other normal functions, such as making telephone calls.
Unlike rooting an Android device, jailbreaking is necessary if the user intends to run software not authorized by Apple. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, jailbreaking iPhones is legal in the United States, although Apple has announced that the practice “can violate the warranty”.[2] However, this applies only to devices that are currently jailbroken; restoring a device with iTunes removes the jailbreak.[3][4][5]

Crap on all that jail breaking is not illegal you can just use it for illegal purposes.. It’s like torrents.. It’s not illegal technically.. But everyone used it for illegal purposes

The point of jailbreak is to get free apps, still past 2013 it won’t be legal to still do. Seems knowone here knows much about it.

I know as much as the best I been doing it since 3.1.3 on a 3G and not everyone uses it for free apps (although most do) some use it for the tweaking I did a friends and she just liked the themes and a few other tweaks…but apple just hates it bc your breaking the security on the phone

This new law goes into effect for the ios6, anything below that firmware is alright I believe.. Just not sure.. Especially the new iPad 4 and mini apple would love to have unbreakable, so they are doing their best to have everyone running scared..
Answer #8
They could pass that law.. But the jail break will still flood the Internet.. People are still going to do it… I wouldn’t worry about it too much .. Idk why they would just say iOS 6 you woul think they would pass the law on all io versions
