Intel Core 2 duo E6850 or E8400?[SOLVED]

August 7th, 2016

The E6850 is more slightly more expensive yet the E8400 seems better. I was suggested to get the E8400, what should i do?
Ps: Am buying either one in the next 3 hours

Answer #1
The 8400 offers 6MB L2 cache over the 6850’s 4MB, that’s about it. The 8400 also includes more advanced architecture than the 6850 making it the better choice for gaming. As Both are 3.0 GHz processors capable of bus speeds up to 1333 MHz, I would say pretty equal.
Both seem typically close, but 8400 may just win in this case. So, I would go for the cheaper 8400 as its a great bang for the buck as they say.
Answer #2
definatly the E8400 it is based on 45nm and has an lower tdp if i’m right and performs also better.
Edit:

Before you rush off buying the 8400 does your motherboard support these new CPU’s? If so then yes the 8400 is the better buy.

Not correct m8 the E6850 is a 65nm CPU the 8400 is a 45nm CPU…He can check if his motherboard supports it by going onto the board makers site…or if it says on the box that would be easier…but some older P965 boards need a BIOS update for the 8400 to work.
Answer #8
8400 is just the newer model of the 6850
Answer #9
8400 is just the newer model of the 6850
Wrong again m8 the 8400 is from the wolfdale family of processors which are 45nm production CPU’s the 6850 is from the Conroe family of processors which is 65nm and are different than the 8400 series.
I think you should look them both up and see for yourself.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 “LGA775 Conroe” 65nm
Only compatible with new Intel P35 and NV680 socket 775 Motherboards (Older 975 boards are not compatible)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 is one of the 45nm dual-core
Some old motherboards *if* capable will need a BIOS update to support these processors.
Not a newer model or a replacement for the 6850 it’s a totally new design of Intel chip.
