If I flash new ROM after using SIM-unlock code…

August 24th, 2013

If I flash new ROM after using SIM-unlock code will my phone again become SIM-LOCKED?
EDIT: I have Samsung Galaxy 3 i5800 currently flashed to 2.3.7 version of android (Kyrillos’ ROM v10 GWK74 Alpha4 if you want to know)
Now I am planning to sim-unlock the phone but I’m worried will the sim-unlock be gone after another ROM flash, because I have to pay to get the SIM-unlock code
Thanks!

Yeah, I posted a topic there, but no answers for like 24hours, so I decided to ask in more places.
I guess it’s safe, but read somewhere that I should backup some folders…which I can’t find on my device
@_Hell_Boy_: I think there are no those kind of roms for my phone
Answer #6
what phone model is it ?
Answer #7
Samsung Galaxy 3 i5800
Answer #8
check
www.sammobile.com for stock roms then
this should be for yours i think :
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I5800&r=-1#modelsa
select region wich you r n dl the latest rom ( need to make acc to download files)
after you downlaod you got a flash guide on the site too

So you’re telling me that I can flash a stock rom which is already unlocked and then I can flash another roms like this one I have now…
Kyrillos' ROM v10 GWK74 Alpha4
…and it will stay unlocked?
Or I have to stay on that stock rom?
Answer #10
Kyrillos' ROM v10 GWK74 Alpha4
that sounds like a custom rom
you can flash a clean non carrier rom or a custom rom both will work
Answer #11
Can you tell me which is the latest stock rom here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I5800&r=1#regiona
Is it this one: I5800XWJPK ## 2.2 2011 June I5800BSE ?
Thanks

Yes that is a custom rom, I already have it flashed but the phone is still sim(network)-locked.
I am pretty sure what you suggested will work, but I wouldn’t want to stay on that “stock” rom. Do you think that the phone will stay sim-unlocked if I flash the stock rom you suggest and then again flash that custom rom i’m using now?
Answer #13
well you can try to enter the code first if you have it
and yes thats the latest stock official rom for it but it stoped on 2.2 froyo ic so the 2.3.7 custom one is better for you
Answer #14
I don’t have the code yet, but I will try to flash 2.2 stock then 2.3.7 and see what happens.
Thanks for your help.. still got no replies from xda-developers..
Answer #15
when you once sim unlock it i dont think flashing roms over n over will lock it again
Answer #16
I flashed stock rom from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063940
…because it says 100% safe flash, and phone is still locked
I didn’t flash the one from sammobile.com because that had a bootloader I think, and it’s not safe
Answer #17
well then unlock it using the code
Answer #18
I bought the code via sim-unlock.net, code worked, everything went better than expected, now I will flash back the custom ROM I was on
