Many of you may know all these icons for MAC applications. For example the Times RSS Reader Icon:
Does anyone know something about these icon’s production process, or – much better – have a tutorial?
Yesterday, I found a great tutorial for doing 3D icons in Illustrator and Photoshop. This tutorial was already a good approach:

Moving to Helpdesk
Axialis IconWorkshop with the Photoshop and Illustrator plugins will produce great looking Mac icons.
You basically make shapes in Illustrator, and fill them with various gradients. If you are wondering how they are made and asking for tutorials because you want to make your own icons, it isn’t so easy to do. The people who make these icons have gone to college for graphic design. You can take a crack at it, but don’t expect to be able to make icons that good from scratch. Even I probably couldn’t produce something of that quality (yet) and I am good at that stuff too.

So, I will go through several tutorials. I planned to create some additional logo drafts for my website projects – so I can gather further experiences.
Thanks for your answers.
