How to speed up rapidshare downloads?

August 3rd, 2016

I currently have a cable connection with 6000 kbps/ 500 kbps. I use flashget and the fastest speed I usually get when downloading 1 file is 600-700 kbps and about 250-300 kbps when downloading 3 files simultaneously. I am also located in the western part of the United States. Is there a way I can speed up downloads to something like 1000+ kbps per file when downloading 3 simultaneous files?

Try using IDM, you can usually get very good speeds with it, even better than with Flashget. However. it depends on Rapidshare’s servers as well as on your connection. Good luck mate ^_^

Is your connection 6Megabits per second down
and 1/2 megabit upload speed?
If thats the case…Then getting 600-700 kilobytes per second is normal…
Answer #3
it depends mostly on RS servers. if it is temporary don’t worry. if it happens constantly then your router or connection could have a problem.
try a test at
http://speedtest.net/
and see your results. if they show false connection speed then you might have a problem with your connection. contact your ISP provider.

Thats disappointing. Yeah, the speedtest I took is awfully close to what I’m paying for.

yea well it is…
What the 6 megabits is…
You divide that by 8 to get how much kilobytes per second you actually get…
So if you have 6megabits, divide the 6000 kilobits by 8…
And you get 750…
Which therefore means, your average/top speed should be 750kilobytes per second download speed…

Is this only for rapidshare or downloads in general? Cause, I’ve downloaded files before at 1+ mbps.
Answer #7
When you hit 1mbps you probably downloaded off a server very close to where you live.
Answer #8
It could be because of the distance between you and the exchange…

Yea as mentioned before it could be distance…
But what you are really getting is a speed burst…
When I used to have my 256k connection (30kb/s)
It would speed burst to 45kb/s and higher occasionally but rarely…depending on server etc…
Answer #12
maybe your DSLAM is not that close to you. do you live in a big city or in a small town?
and if you wait before pressing save as button you will get a higher speed since the browser is already downloading even before
you press the save or open button.
