How to remove the screw part at end of coaxial cable?
January 31st, 2020
I’ve got this cable with the tightening part on both ends.
One end is connected to the cable point and the other should be connected to the tv.
To connect to the tv, I need the coaxial cable without the twistable part. Is there any way to remove it? Or any adapter available?
Thanks!
if you have an old TV that only has the two screws for the antenna(really old) then you need a 75 ohm to 300 ohm balun. trying to make it work by removing the connector will work VERY poorly, as the impedance is way off. here’s one at radio shack. http://www.radioshack.com/product/?productId=2062049
what you have already will connect directly to a modern TV..
My TV is not old. It’s a Samsung UA40F5500.
I tried but the cable wouldn’t go in.
That’s the sort of cable connector they have for Sky or Cable …….. You can just cut the connector off and pare the outer casing back to reveal the inner core which houses the middle reception wire. Use a Stanley blade or similar, leave about an inch of the central core wire exposed then use a normal TV coax connector (male) on the end. If you fail the first time just try again.
If that cable is connected to a Sky dish or cable input (underground) it won’t work, the other end needs to be connected to a normal TV aerial that receives digital TV.
EDIT: I think you’ll find the other end needs to be connected to a cable box then you connect the cable box to the TV. If you have an HDMI cable just connect that to the box and TV.

If you are sure the other end connects to a standard TV aerial then you just need one of these:
F Type Screw Connector Socket to RF Coax Aerial Male Adapter
Cheap and readily available, for example:

Yes, like says, either that or modify/replace cable.
Becoming common in Oz now..New antenna instals using F type, but TVs etc still use Pal sockets.

That’s how it was originally. Decided to terminate cable tv and thus had to return the ‘box’. The free to view basic chans is taken from the wall socket and connected to the tv directly.

Thanks guys! That’s exactly what I need

that’s a weird connector for the U.S. anyway, it looks like a BNC connector, but it don’t have the pins on the side to hold the connector.. in the U.S. we use “F” type connectors for TV’s.. this is a new one for me..
