how to open .file ext

I d/l a game. i extracted the .rar file to get another .rar, file, then extracted a folder, which contained 30 smaller .rar’s. Extracted all those to end up with 30 .01 files. Used hjsplit to join them. Now im left with one file with the extension .file. I have no clue what program i would use to open it. Any help would be appreciated

Use Winrar instead..Those are compressed files that need to be extracted not joined..

If winrar chokes – it does on some .001 files – use 7Zip.
I recommend keeping winrar AND 7zip – install winrar and keep 7zip as portable or cmdline (so you won’t get too many menu items in win explorer).

Under Folder Options in Explorer, Always set options so it DOES show extensions of known file types.
Less chance of confusion then, I found ..
Also showing hidden files is useful for chasing things up.

That is THE most important thing of all – there are hundreds of viruses that come in becasue they are called
“BritneyBonking.avi.exe” but the “.exe” is hidden.
