How to burn and play a PS2 game

August 4th, 2016

Hi,
I’m having problems getting downloaded game to run on my PS2
It’s a .cue and .bin file.
It refuses to write to a dvd, and only writes to a cd.
The cd is not readable on my ps2
Can anyone help?
The solution is probably simple but i cant see it.
Thanks

What software are you using? I always used to use Alcohol 120.
Make sure you’re burning at a low speed (2.4 – 4x) to prevent any data clarity issues
Your PS2 is modded in some way to be able to play these downloaded games?

i tried imgburn and ashampoo, both say the file can not be burnt to dvd, only a cd. i really dont know what on earth the problem is there.
Also, The ps2 is not modded at all.
I didnt realise it had to be modded.
If it does,i may not bother as it sounds dangerous?

You can do it without opening the system using Swap Magic and the disc tray opening tool:
http://www.swapmagic3.com/
No, you can’t download this disc – it has to be purchased due to the way it’s burned.
The CD/DVD error is probably because the image is small enough for a CD? This can probably be turned off in settings, but since you haven’t got a modded PS2 the disc would still be unreadable.

thanks
I dont know what swap magic version i need though?
plus its hard to get hold of and pricey, and doesn’t always work it seems.
maybe easier to just pick up cheap ps2 games in the shops i guess?
Or even better, just get a dirt cheap used ps2 game off of ebay.

Alot of early ps2 games were on cd’s rather than dvd’s your file is likely one of them just burn to cd using imgburn as slow as possible always use -r’s for cd and dvd.I use swap magic it is a bit hit and miss multiple attempts to boot a disc until finally it loads, you don’t need the dvd version the cd one is much cheaper and will still load a dvd just use disc refresh option put in an original ps2 dvd game it will swap cogs to read the dvd then slide tool and put in your burned game.
