How do I enable my video thumbnails in Win7? <Solved>

August 7th, 2016

How can I do this without installing a third party software?
Google is no help, all ~ Spam ~ direct me to something that I have to download too fix!
Can you fix this problem in Windows 7 it’s self?

Answer #1
Open any window (ie My Documents)
Under the back/forward buttons, click on organize
Select Folders and Search Options from the drop down menu
Go to the View tab
Under advanced options, uncheck Always show icons, never thumbnails
Press OK
and voila

I tried that… an that does not work.
The problem has to with vid players which you (install/uninstall) , some of them read an write to your registry an corrupt those areas of which you cannot enable/disable through windows functions.
They say the best ways are a dll edit of some sort? It seems like the net is offering downloads too fix this rather than solid windows solutions.
I actually have my eye on one program (Icaros_v2.2.5) but why should I have to download a program to fix this.
P.S. Who altered my message???

It’s funny how someone altered my topic an I don’t see any log of a edit, nor did that person leave his/her name??
An why would that someone label me a SPAMMER???
I am calling you out… show yourself.
Direct me to one piece of SPAM I have produced?
An why would you post that here when I am simply trying to ask for for suggestions?

They have a filter that automatically blocks out blacklisted URLs. It might of had a referral link. They do that even for IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1073507~ Spam ~tt_rec_tt

Maybe using the word Google did it…
Guess not, I said Google and it didn’t trigger the response…
What words were between (all and direct) in your original post…?

If you go to your post as if you were going to EDIT it, you should see what you wrote, I think..
Looking at my Computer, it can show thumbnails for .avi and some other files but not .mkv…
They say that it may use WMP for thumbnails, however WMP works ok for me on .mkv files too..
I’m sure Google will help

Some discussion here..
http://superuser.com/questions/545708/thumbnails-for-video-files-are-not-showing-in-windows-7
But unless you feel like editing your registry or something…Try this..
It brought back all thumbnails for all formats for me
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/mediapreview.html
Just tick all Video, Audio and image files..
You can even change the way it picks a frame for the thumbnail.
You won’t just get some boring blank frame..
(My files still play in their correct selected player BTW.)

I will keep your program recommend in mind for future reference, but for this this one appears too be doing it’s job. Thanx for the reply an offer I will mark this one as <Solved>
I guess? being I did not manage to accomplish this through Windows and I fond myself installing a program away.
