Hide my location from Sky

Use a VPN that has a UK server.
Search in helpdesk for “free VPN” there is one in beta at the moment (Real-VPN)
A proxy might work but it’s not as good as a VPN.
I’ve also seen people recommend this, but no idea if it’s any good

Never heard about that one, but i’ve hear about Hotspot Shield:

That is full of spyware, I certainly wouldn’t use that one.
Also to anoninspain – are you going to be using SKY anytime, just bear in mind the amount of data usage and your Spanish ISP TOS
That’s so not true, a lot of people use it, and i’ve tried it myself and never had a single problem.
I agree with Meercat I tried Hotspot sheild and it caused me loads of problems so I dumped it. To Meercat I have done all for Real incl config files etc. Connection via TCP and UPD although they show connected do not allow me to access internet. Therefore following a thread yo posted a while ago to someone else I tried setting up via Network Connections VPN etc etc all seemed fine but failed with error 868 – any ideas? I just checked it may mean that DNS server is unavailable is this something to do with beta?
One more bit of info Meercat in the post I was looking at you gave an email contact for Real – tried it for help but it has bounced back as unknown – Real-debrid@gmail.com>:

By the way you were helping me the other week re BIOS issues etc on a laptop, floppy discs etc. Well I discovered that probably problem was dry joint on CMOS battery and indeed several other joints were suspect so did a reflow in oven (always worked before!!) and 75% of the components simply fell out in 5 mins at 200 C !! So I binned the lot, now have lots of Compaq 2504 EU spares!!
^^ yup – I just had a read on their FB page, seems everyone has this issue, not just you. I hadn’t tried connecting using their connections before recommending it. They do have crap support, I think they seem to spend most of their time only dealing with major issues at Real-debrid, from what I have seen, they are a bunch of French students running the services as a sideline to boost their income.
If you were willing to spend money, then you would be best going for a paid service. This is one I have used for years with no major issues, however do note their bandwidth and terms of service.

-paroxysM^ has recommended this service in previous threads, I have not tried it though, but it’s cheaper.

OOps about your mobo – can you not get a replacement from somewhere like E-bay ?

Thanks no problem about buying it I will take a look. Give me clue as to what I should look for re their terms and I have never understood bandwidth. Re laptop yes I could buy a second hand motherboard most seem to be about £50 plus carriage. Issue is I guess this must be about a 2004 vintage laptop and you have to say is it woth it I do not need it and sale price when fixed?? It was not all my fault re board as I think it had run pretty hot in past and joints were suspect anyway but I must confess it was funny to have about 50 components in the bottom of the oven although my wife did not see funny side.

Yup they can be expensive for older lappies, unless you hunt one down from a specialist laptop breaker, or take the risk and buy one that is faulty with something else like LCD.
The older lappies, you can sometimes make a fair bit of money back by breaking up the lappy and selling the parts individually.
