Help With Barcode Scanner (PS2 Port)

August 6th, 2016

I have a LP150 barcode scanner from some LABAU TECHNOLOGY CORP.
It used to work great till around 4 months ago. It had never been used since then. Today, when i connected it to my pc (PS2 Port), it seemed to work normal, it made that startup tune, and its laser was functioning.
When I tried to scan a barcode into notepad, excel, etc. it would detect it and also beep but it wouldn’t enter any data into the computer. After the first scanning, it would totally stop functioning, no red laser light, nothing!
I went up to my vendor and he checked it out and it worked on his computer perfectly. He suggested that my PS2 port should have the problem, and he gave me a PS2-USB converter. I put that on, and it seemed to work, it would scan and read barcodes but it wouldn’t enter the data. Unlike the case with the PS2 connection, it didn’t go completely off after the fist shot.
I went up to him again, and the usb thingy wasn’t functioning with the barcode scanner at his place too.
So basically, it can only work with a PS2 connection.
Thinking that my PS2 port was damaged, I tried it on all my 3 PCs and I faced the same problem.
I have no idea what the problem is. Its not working on any of my PCs but it works perfect on my Vendor’s.

yea strange!
A more strange fact is that Barcode readers have no Drivers or Software! (At least not mine)

it must be in firmware then which explains why its like that on all 3 but still leaves why will work on the shops pc

maybe possible. but the tricky part is that it used to work on the same pc a couple of moths ago and now it doesn’t.
and just to let you know, all the 3 pcs are of Acer.
