Help to make a good impression

April 13th, 2020

Hello all,
I will try not to write too much but would appreciate your input greatly! I had a job interview as a database analyst and before i go into more details they are looking for someone who can integrate the database because they are moving it to SQL db with weblink international. Before I’m hired, they want to have a phone call conference with me( the company I applied for, weblink person, and myself) next week. I will do my own research on weblink before the call but I would like to know what can I ask the Weblink person. What would be some of the good questions to ask? Anything Ps: this will be my first job as a database analyst if hired. Thank you for reading and looking forward to your input.
Pss: can you guys recommend any books for me to read that will assist me in any way!

Do some research on the companies who will be conducting the interview, it shows you are keen and interested, and have some notes and questions in front of you when you do the phone call.
They can’t see your facial expressions so remember that your voice is the important feature. Don’t be monotone when you speak and DO speak, don’t let them do all the talking. If you have any quirky sayings like ‘erm’ that you use when you get stuck mid sentence, try not to use them.
Feel happy, be positive, try to be very enthusiastic and don’t tell lies because they have a habit of coming back to bite you in the arse. Good luck!

Thank you SaturnSid, will keep that in mind and practice as much as possible before the call

I’ve never actually done a phone interview, but my son has done a few of them. Employers usually use them as a means of weeding out the good from the bad then they invite the good in for a face to face interview. So, it is an important interview for you and you really must sell yourself to the best of your ability. Try not to be nervous (easier said than done ) because your voice might just take on a shakey tone ….. and if you make a mistake, just admit it and correct yourself in a positive way.
My wife was never refused any job she went to interview for, She’s always been a good communicator over the phone or face to face. Her unique ability is that she always manages to get the other person off track and talk about things she wants to talk about ….. and once you talk about stuff you are familiar with you are more or less in control of the interview without the other person knowing it.
Remember that the people interviewing you, (depending upon what time of day your interview is) may have been doing it all day long and by the time they come to you they could be totally bored out of their skulls, so you got to leave them with a good impression.

Yup, on on the flip side of that, if your interview is early, you want to be the one that they compare all others to for the rest of the day.

just be yourself. if you you try to be someone you’re not, you will fail. for the job you are going for, personality isn’t the thing they are looking for, so be positive and confident when talking about your skills. if you try to analyze ever little word you say, you will lose the main thrust of what you are trying to achieve. make a few bullet point notes, so you can instantly refer to them and i would say, try and be as friendly, as this will do wonders in ANY situation..
if you haven’t got an outgoing/charming personality, you can’t just suddenly get one for a job interview, so stick with what you know.
good luck.
