Help me choose an outfit.

January 20th, 2020

So month from now, my parents’s friends’s daughter is marrying.. I didn’t see the girl or her brother for years(we used to hang out when we were little kids) and now my parents demanded my appearance. And as long as I remember I haven’t been to a wedding like forever… the kind of people there isn’t my kind, everyone will be wearing their 1K dress with double layer of make up… and the music is terrible… but when my parents insist on something, there is no point of arguing. Anyways to the real issue… I need to pick an outfit, decent yet not so cocky (suit is not an option).
Suggestions ?
Thanks in advance

No matter how bad you try not to look.. curiosity always wins.
Answer #4
Some seriousness now please?
Answer #5
Get some nice slacks. Get dark blue instead of black because it goes with more things if you’re on a budget. Get a white dress shirt. Check to make sure it’s not see-through or wear an undershirt. A nice tie, not too flamboyant of a design, something simple. If you have extra money, buy a suit jacket. Again, I’d go with a dark blue for first timers. Make sure you have some nice dress shoes and some black socks. A nice leather belt would also be recommended.
Answer #6
Some seriousness now please?
formal or unformal
Answer #7
@Dale Formal.
@Hawks was thinking about a bow tie instead of a regular tie and white shirt with short sleeves with a vest. About the color, my choices are grey, black and dark blue. I guess dark blue will be my first choice. Thanks for your suggestion
Answer #8
Good advice from Hawk there. A vest under a shirt is a must as sweating can become a factor. Make sure you tread the shoes in a bit before the wedding too, or pick comfortable shoes.
And a nice pair of Shades to top it off

A bit more information may be helpful.
How old are you?
M or F?
Your body type?
Wedding night or day?
Indoors or out?
Frankly, for me, I would wear something like ‘s pic #2…Light pants, blue blazer. pocket square for a bit of flair.
If you’re 5’2″ 350 pounds I’d just go with a flowered muumuu and call it a day.
Answer #15
I’d go for Dale’s suggestion… It’s something you could wear afterwards in all kinds of combos, because that IMO is one of the biggest problems, buying stuff you only gonna wear 1 or possibly a few times…
Answer #16
Just go and hire something from those hire shops just to keep your parents happy. It will cost much less than buying something you won’t wear again. If you can’t afford that just go clean wearing your own stuff ….. and don’t forget to clean your trainers (nothing worse than dirty trainers at a wedding). How’s about a nice velvet suit (red of course)

Answer #17

Answer #18

Yes, that looks nice and it’s something you can wear later…Even a more casual type suit could be handy ..
You never know, you might even attract a rich bridesmaid..Don’t knock it
Answer #23
You’re disrespectful to them if you go to their wedding without a suit.

Why not just stay at home? Weddings are crap anyway, apart from the girls/beer/dancing and sexy bridesmaids.
