Help making a bootable windows xp disc?
August 5th, 2016
I just burnt a copy of windows xp and was told it was a bootable disc but when i restart my pc and run my dvd burner as 1st bootable device “it doesnt run the windows xp setup”
i am running windows vista and am having nothing but issues with this operating system and wanting to just go back to win xp
if someone could help me that would be great
thank u
Did you burn it from an ISO file? If you just used the setup files from a hard disk folder then it won’t be bootable.
How did u BURN it? 1. Just put all files in the disk and burn it?
OR
2. Burnt a ISO File onto the CD?
Answer this 1st please.
Did you burn files of Windows XP or ISO? If ISO then it should be bootable but if files then it’s not bootable
I know this is not what you asked but if I was you I would go up to 7 and not down to xp. My PC came with vista and I have never been happier since upgrading to 7.
If you still want xp and need a working ISO then you can get one here:

I have used it and it worked great.
if you burned an ISO did you burn it as an “image”, not as data
thanks guys i made the files into a bootable ISO image so hopefully that will work..thanks for all the help much appreciated
