help converting media files for play on DVD with USB input.

January 29th, 2020

I have a Pioneer DV 400V DVD player with a USB input port.Downloading movie AVI files from here put them on a USB stick and bung em in the DVD and they play no probs however if I get a download such as an MKV file and convert to AVI it will not play. I have used OJsoft to convert the MKV to every AVI file listed on the OJSoft program but none of them will play.Converting via ConvertX to DVD and burning to a CD and they work fine. Can anyone please offer suggestions which may give me the AVI file output which will work on a DVD usb input. What program do uploaders use to convert to the AVI format that seems to work without any trouble on most of the AVI movie files I download from here.
Hope someone can help.

Answer #1
u have to convert video codec (h264) (commonly used these days) to either XVID or DIVX (depending which codec ur dvd player support)
use avidemux or format factory to convert video codec to xvid and audio codec to mp3

Thanks .
The problems I’m having is playing via USB stick. The DVD player is fine with Xvid and DivX but the usb will not play in these formats. In fact the only format they will play is the AVI format most movies are uploaded in.
