Hard Drive Identification
August 7th, 2016
Just wondering if you would be able to help me. A while ago I bought a hard drive enclosure for an old iPod hard drive I hard lying about the place. I accidently bought the wrong one (if I remember correctly I actually needed a “ribbon” type).
Anyway. I was wondering what sort of hard drive would fit in the following enclosure. It’s a 1.8″ drive that I need, I thought it might be a 1.8″ IDE drive but I wanted to make sure before I bought anything. Here’s some photos of the caddy with connectors.
I know it might be cheaper to buy a usb memory stick, but seen the odd drive kicking about ebay, 40GB, for quite cheap (under 10) so figured it could be a worth while investment for files. Thanks!!

Sorry – My bad. I thought links had to be “quoted”.
1.8" IDE drive
yup, that type should work, if your sure it’s not a 2.5″ drive enclosure
100% sure, The only thing that I can understand from the box (as it’s all in chinese I beleive) is 1.8″, and its a lot smaller than my 2.5″ drives!
Thanks!!
