Graphics Card Problem after SP2 install
February 3rd, 2020
Recently i downloaded a AVI Joiner, installed it and it messed up my display (other people on the topic also complained about it happening). I assumed it was a virus seen as it worked fine in safe mode, and reinstalled XP.
Everything was fine until i installed SP2, and then the same thing happened again.
The thing is before i downloaded this software my PC was working fine for 5-6 months prior to the mess up. As soon as i clicked on the .exe to launch the software it messed up.
After a reinstall on a new HDD it has to be a GFX card issue. Is it possible a virus can store itself on DDR Memory? Im not sure how it can, when DDR is volatile, but a virus may be storing itself somewere and is triggered or ran alongside something within the SP2 update.
Its working fine now as i dont have SP2 installed, but i need it installed as without it my security is low.
Any ideas on what this could be? GFX card is working fine now, so its not broke, so there is no need to buy a new one. Was working fine for along time before downloading that peice of software.

if it is an virus the best solution is to completely wipe your harddisk and do an total fresh instal of xp. because of more people having the same problem i dont think this is an driver issue becaus such an program should not be interfering with drivers of an graphical card.
