Yet another asking the same question – I just picked up a new MB for a system I had been planning for a bit. Its a Gigabyte Z77M-D3H-MVP with an i7 proc. I’ll be displaying it on a 32″ Samsung 1080i. I’m partial to ATI cards – I know many like nVidia, but personally I never had one last barely a year before the fan or otherwise, failed. The local shop – who only carries nVidia – convinced me to give my last one a try…..7 months and it failed. Soooo……in a $50-225US price range, what is a good (you’ve had or seen one in the flesh and liked it) ATI card? If I wait I may be able to increase my budget (on board graphics isn’t bad). I do game a tad but nothing like the obsessed. My games are all 2-3 yrs old and nothing online. I trust end users’ input more than a sponsored column writer. Thanks in advance.

wow.7 months and your gpu failed.surely you got a damage card or you did something to the card.weird.
Answer #2
Did nothing and was just average use. I had ONE nVidia last about 18 months before it failed – either the fan comes apart, it starts glitching or gets noisy and the hue gets wacky.

I cant recommend a new card to you … but considering all the graphics card failuers youve had why dont you use the onboard GPU? It might cost you less money in the long run.
As far as graphics card goes Ive used both ATI Radeon and nVidia and have never had one fail … so I dont think your experience is typical.
